As 7000 series alloys with zinc as the prominent alloying element, these alloys are both understandably very strong. With this feature, they make excellent structures in a wide range of industries. However, the higher zinc content in 7075 aluminum means that 7075 aluminum extrusion is stronger than 7005 aluminum extrusion.

Some extrusion profile design is not workable for 7075 aluminum extrusion, but the shape may be extruded with 7005 aluminum.

The weldability of 7075 aluminum extrusion is worse than 7005 aluminum extrusion.
