Aluminum alloys are often subjected to a heat treatment process to improve their mechanical properties. They are aged through heating to a defined temperature and cooling in a controlled environment. Often, this process is called age hardening or precipitation hardening. The temper name and the different designations such as T5 and T6 refer to the state of the alloy after the age hardening process. The T5 and T6 tempers are examples of many other possible alloy states.

We recommend 6061T6 for manufacturing of aluminum flooring extrusions for shipping container.
